American Van Lines

Too much to write. Missed pick up date, did not charge amount agreed to on contract. Subcontracted a business that was revoked and suspended by BBB. Overcharged for packing materials that were simply bought at Home Depot. I did my research prior to hiring and thought I had a good company. I was WRONG. These guys could care less. And they probably wont even provide a response to this review. Update 12/28/23: Samuel P, VP of Customer Service stated to me that "I was extorting American Van Lines." This is b/c I will not be bullied and I did not agree with his proposed settlement and told him I will be taking alternate actions. I didn't think a large company would speak to their customers this way. I honestly felt like he is trying to use the sheer size of American van lines as an intimidating factor.

HORRIBLE! Do not use this company! Our stuff was almost two weeks late and wouldn't have left AT ALL had we not been calling them for an update every single day. They also lied to us multiple times about the location of our stuff; tell us it was here or there when in reality it had never even been loaded into the moving truck. Movers made inappropriate comments about our religion and asked for a tip. They expected us to pay more because they couldn't move closer to the door in the huge semi they brought (even though when we told them they could move closer as all over moving vans have at this apartment complex they said they were ok where they were).

0 STARS if the was an option...Not Sure where to begin...I was quoted a move from San Diego to Houston at around $3700.00. I was promised a NLT deliver date that was not complied to. (which was why I initially chose this company due to business' travel). When my furniture finally arrived, I was told it would be another $3000.00 due to weight (??). Not sure what weight , but my total move consisted of a new white leather adjustable sofa, which was destroyed, a coffee table, 2 TV's, 6-7 storage bins and clothes. NO OTHER furniture, kitchen items, nothing!!! Upon delivery, there was only 1 person to unload due to the small amount of items. The driver stated, "due to the amount of items, I do not need help. I just am waiting on someone to assist with the sofa." Even tried to deliver items that were not mine. Not sure where the justification for $6700.00 came from, CRAZY!! On another note, the delivery company stated they in fact tried to deliver the next day, but no one was home. American Van Lines promised me a day due to my travel, so of course no one was home. I was subsequently charged for the "Missed Delivery". THAT'S A LIE! They would of contacted me with a delivery window...never happened, just charged. This is a rough breakdown of the unprofessionalism and non caring of peoples property. - At packing, my wife experienced a super rude individual who was overseeing the pack. My move from Florida to San Diego was perfect, EVERYTHING boxed was accounted for and any damaged were taken care of w/in a month. My only regret was not using them again. As for issues, here are the main; - There were many certain, pricey items that were "missing" (obviously stolen) and now, never recovered. I cannot add to my claim, due to only 1 claim allowed. They said they'd look for my missing items, still waiting on an answer. - NO ACCOUNTABILITY what so ever!!!!! - Hanger boxes I paid for were not used properly. The clothes were folded and stuffed in those boxes. - EVERY box, to include my sofa was soaking wet. Some of the sofa cushion were soaked and dripping from the seams, to include mold. (See photos) - There were boxes missing and upon contacting American Van Lines, they could only apologies, state they would look for my missing items BUT would refund me $150.00. What an insult after screwing me for another $3000.00. No further replies from them, they got there money.... I never write bad reviews, because I like to give the company the benefit of the doubt when issues occur, but this was a nightmare. I have attached a few photos showing how wet items were, to include the soaked sofa wrap and growing mold. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AMERICAN VAN LINES TO ANYONE!!!!!

Jose Amgarita was absolutely amazing at moving all of belongings from Southwest Florida to Chapin, South Carolina. He was the utmost professional and extremely cautious with everything he did. Even making sure that every piece of furniture was put in its proper spot, including centering on the walls and under the lights/fans. We have never had such a wonderful moving experience and we’ve moved many times. Highly recommend American Van lines. Thank you Jose!!!!
